Kandhakottam, Kandasamy Temple is a huge temple situated in Parry's. Story is that two Muruga Bhakths, Mari Chetty and Kandapandaram used to visit Tiruporur Murugan, near Mahabalipuram, for every Krithigai. Remeber we are talking of time when travel was not that easy and one has to go by foot. That was in year 1672. On reaching Tiruporur they took rest under Margosa tree near a tank. In their dream, Lord Murugan appeared in their dream and told that they would find a Murthy of Lord Muruga in an ant-hill in the tenk bund and they can worship it. as in their dream, they got an idel of Subrahmanya, which they brought with them and installed here, in Kandhakottam.Sub History
